July 2007 goals

I really haven’t been knitting much – I break out the Mountain Stream Scarf at weekly knit nights, but that’s about it. Which explains the lack of blog updates. But!

I didn’t set any June goals, so here’s how I did for May’s:

  1. Finish one sock – Not done.
  2. Knit at least 1 inch for Eris – Done!
  3. Knit at least three repeats of the Mountain Stream Scarf – Done!

This month’s (kind of belated) goals are simple:

  1. Knit at least eight repeats of the Mountain Stream Scarf
  2. Knit outside of Thursday knit nights
  3. Work on something other than Mountain Stream Scarf (preferably Eris, but the socks will do)

Yes, I’m a slacker

So I said I would post a picture of my newest lace WIP, and look, I’m actually doing it! (More than a few weeks late, admittedly. But better late than never, right?) Here goes:

This is a Mountain Stream Scarf, using the yarn leftover from the Tina Shawl. The pictures I took last week didn’t turn out so well, so this picture is from early April. But the scarf doesn’t look much different now – it’s just several repeats longer.

Surprisingly, I’m still not completely bored with it. I think part of it is because for some reason, I find the edging slightly non-intuitive. Also, believe it or not, but this is my very first garter-stitch-based project. So I’m not really used to reading my knitting in this sort of ground and it occasionally confuses me. Oh well. I’m sure I’ll get used to it at some point.

May 2007 goals

If anyone out there is still reading, sorry for the lack of updates. Life’s been kind of nuts lately. And despite what I said about having more time to knit… I haven’t really been knitting. Most of that extra time went into rekindling old hobbies. I also had a lot of conflicts with knit-togethers this month. Both of those things mean that last month’s goal progress was practically nonexistent.

  1. Finish Falling Leaves v2 – Not done.
  2. Finish one Fairways sock and make some progress on the other – Not done.
  3. Knit at least 1 1/2 inches for Eris – Not done.
  4. Knit at least three repeats of the Mountain Stream Scarf – Done! (Barely.)
  5. Start a new pair of fingerless mitts, but only after finishing a Fairways sock. – Not done.

My year goal progress is equally sad, but I’m not any worse off than I was last month (no stash acquisitions, and I did make it to a friend’s general crafting shindig at the very end of April).

In May I should be able to start going to regular knit-togethers again, which means I should be getting at least a little more knitting in. But I’ll just ease myself back into it. This month’s goals:

  1. Finish one sock
  2. Knit at least 1 inch for Eris
  3. Knit at least three repeats of the Mountain Stream Scarf

Speaking of the Mountain Stream Scarf, I still need to post about it. If today was any indication, May gray could make it impossible for me to take a new, decently-lit shot. But I’ve got a slightly older photo that I never got around to uploading, and I may just post that one instead. We’ll see. Either way, look for another post this week!

April 2007 goals

I feel like such a slacker. I know I was productive in not-knitting ways, but that’s not the point. My March 2007 goal progress still makes me sad.

  1. Finish Falling Leaves v2 – Not done.
  2. Finish one Fairways sock and make some sort of progress on the other – Not done.
  3. Work on Eris – Not done.
  4. Start a new lace project – Done! (Pictures to come!)

The progress on my year goals was no better. I’m not going to do the full run-down just because I’m at mostly the same place as I was last month. The one change was that I actually added to my stash instead of decreased it. There was a sale at Knitting in La Jolla a couple of weekends ago; of course, a few of us had to check it out and of course, I came away with some sock yarn. It was only one skein of Colinette Jitterbug, though, so I don’t feel too bad – I’ve never used it before and it’s a pretty plum color to boot.

Anyway, due to the turns my life has taken, my knitting time has increased exponentially, so April’s goals:

  1. Finish Falling Leaves v2
  2. Finish one Fairways sock and make some progress on the other
  3. Knit at least 1 1/2 inches for Eris
  4. Knit at least three repeats of the Mountain Stream Scarf
  5. Start a new pair of fingerless mitts, but only after finishing a Fairways sock.

March 2007 goals

Despite my unusual productivity in February, I still did a fairly shabby job when it came to meeting my goals:

  1. Finish Peacock Feathers – Done!
  2. Finish a pair of socks – Not done.
  3. Finish at least one other WIP – Done! (I actually finished two!)
  4. Work on all remaining WIPs – Done! Well, if frogging one counts as “work.” I say it does because it’s a progress change.
  5. Start a new lace project – Not done.

At least the progress on my year goals was slightly better:

  1. Have only one project of each type (socks, lace, fitted garment, etc.) in progress at any one time. – I got most of the way there by mid month. Okay, so I still have two pairs of socks in progress, but one is my self-design project. (What? I said at the beginning of the year that I would categorize projects as I saw fit, right?)
  2. Have a maximum of five projects on the needles at any given time. – Got here before month’s end; I’m now down to three projects.
  3. Finish at least five pairs of socks. – No new progress. I did rip out half of a sock, but I finished one this month, so it’s about even.
  4. Finish at least two shawls or stoles. – One down, one to go!
  5. Finish at least one of the two WIPs started in 2005, and rip out the remaining one if no progress has been made by the end of the year. – I frogged the toe socks early. And I knit a few rows on Eris. No new pictures of the latter, though, since who really wants to see the sleeves the third time around?
  6. Decrease the amount of yarn in my stash. – No go. I broke into another hank of Koigu (for the second Falling Leaves sock), but I also bought a hank of Schaefer Anne early this month. And frogging the toe socks reintroduced even more yarn to my stash.
  7. Attend SnBs more regularly (at least once a month) – So far, so good!

And now, March’s goals!

  1. Finish Falling Leaves v2
  2. Finish one Fairways sock and make some sort of progress on the other.
  3. Work on Eris
  4. Start a new lace project
