More ill fitting than before

Well, the good thing about Eris is that so far, the sleeves actually fit comfortably. Only took three tries within two years…

The bad thing about Eris is that the body no longer fits properly. Well, not the way I want it to, anyway.

I’ve lost fifteen pounds in the past six months. Therefore, this sweater is now significantly larger than I’d like.

It’s very comfortable, which would be lovely if this were a bumming-around-the-house sweater. However, this was supposed to be an out-and-about pullover. And for the most part, I prefer closely fitting garments for when I’m out of the house. My most oversized sweater only has about 3 inches of ease. Eris, on the other hand, now has approximately 5 inches of ease.

I’ve had so many problems with the fit of this sweater, I’m wondering if it just wasn’t meant to be. I don’t know what’s worse – spending all this time on it and then frogging it, or spending all this time and more on it and then stuffing it into the back of a drawer. Thoughts, anyone?

September 2007 goals

Progress on August’s goals:

  1. Work on the Mountain Stream Scarf – Done!
  2. Finish at least one sock – Not done, though I’m much closer now
  3. Work on Eris – Done

I’m not sure if my work on Eris is worth it anymore, though… I’ve been progressing really slowly for a number of reasons, which I’ll be detailing in a follow up post.

And I haven’t updated on my yearly goals for awhile. As you may have guessed, I’m horribly behind on half of them right now. I’m not going to list every single goal, but here are the ones I really need to work on:

  • Finish at least five pairs of socks. – I’ve finished absolutely zero so far. I’ll be lucky to finish three this year.
  • Finish at least two shawls or stoles. – I finished one, but I haven’t even started a second yet. Whoops.
  • Decrease the amount of yarn in my stash. – I haven’t started anything new in months, so obviously I haven’t been using my stash. On the plus side, at least I haven’t been buying any new yarn…

Sad, huh? September’s goals should help me get back on track, though:

  1. Knit at least eight repeats on the Mountain Stream Scarf
  2. Finish Falling Leaves v2
  3. Finish one Fairways sock
  4. Either work on or frog Eris

Not overly ambitious, but these should kick my butt back into full gear.

Ravelry!

I just added all of my projects from 2006 and 2007 to my brand new Ravelry account. Which helped me realize that I haven’t actually finished any projects since February. Which is quite sad.

However! Knit nights are starting back up again, and the Fairways toe pattern has been redrafted, so hopefully I’ll be more active again.

In the meantime, if you like, say hello to me at Ravelry! My username is krysaia.

Beneath one’s feet

I’d ripped the toe out of this sock ages ago, because it didn’t fit properly. I haven’t knit another stitch on it since, as I just wasn’t in the mood to mess with my charts and rework them.

I guess I should show what the sock currently looks like, though. I’ve already shown a shot of the leg, so you get the bottom of the foot this time.

I like it, I think. Though the next time I do a colorwork sock, I’ll just do a striped sole or something, because man, the heel turn and gussets were overly complicated.

I recently started redrafting the toe charts, so hopefully I’ll get to the actual knitting part soon.

August 2007 goals

I was cameraless for a good portion of July, hence the lack of blog updates. I do have my camera back from the repair shop now, though, so I’ll be posting again tomorrow or Friday with a project update.

In the meantime, progress on the July goals:

  1. Knit at least eight repeats of the Mountain Stream Scarf – Not done; I’m a couple of repeats short.
  2. Knit outside of Thursday knit nights – Done. Though I actually didn’t go to Thursday knitting at all in July. Not that anyone else did either, though…
  3. Work on something other than Mountain Stream Scarf (preferably Eris, but the socks will do) – Done. If redrafting the Fairways toe pattern counts as progress, that is.

August’s goals:

  1. Work on the Mountain Stream Scarf
  2. Finish at least one sock
  3. Work on Eris

Boring, I know, but I’m still easing myself back into knitting and these goals should help.
