November 2008 goals

So, last month’s goals were overly ambitious after all.

  1. Finish Tubey – Not done
  2. Finish Retro Ribs – Done!
  3. Complete at least half of the Mountain Peaks Shawl edging – Not done. Got close, though!
  4. Knit the toe for the first Fairways sock – Not done
  5. Knit at least one repeat for the Cleopatra Wrap – Done!

Whoops. This month’s goals are a little more realistic, though:

  1. Complete at least four repeats of the Mountain Peaks Shawl edging
  2. Knit at least three inches for Tubey
  3. Knit the toe for the first Fairways sock

Sharks socks

These socks have been lucky so far. I hope the luck holds! But I’ll wear these socks in any case, to show support for my favorite sports team.

Yarn:
Claudia’s Hand Painted Fingering, in the Sharks colorway

Needles:
US0 / 2.00mm Plymouth bamboo DPNs

I didn’t use a pattern – these are just toe-up socks in stockinette stitch, with a reverse Dutch heel.

I like these a lot. They fit perfectly, and they’re warm and cozy. Also, they’re in San Jose Sharks colors, and I like how the striping turned out (no pooling, yay!), so what more can a fan want?

October 2008 goals

I have one project that’s drying as I type and another that hasn’t been given to the recipient yet. But don’t worry, I should be able to post both this month.

As for last month, let’s look at the goals:

  1. Finish Sharks socks – Done!
  2. Work on at least one lace project – Done! Worked on the Cleopatra Wrap.
  3. Work on Tubey v2 – Done!

Yay! Here’s this month’s:

  1. Finish Tubey
  2. Finish Retro Ribs
  3. Complete at least half of the Mountain Peaks Shawl edging
  4. Knit the toe for the first Fairways sock
  5. Knit at least one repeat for the Cleopatra Wrap

Sounds a bit ambitious, but Tubey, Retro Ribs, and Cleopatra are all great for hockey knitting (the season openers are this weekend, yay!). So these should all be doable.

Silk and lace

I’d intended to finish this particular project in early August, as I had multiple weddings to attend last month and this accessory would’ve gone beautifully with my dress. However, I started just a bit too late for that.

I’m sure I’ll still find good use out of this when it’s finished, though!

This is the Cleopatra Wrap. I’m knitting this out of Redfish 20/2 silk. I’d intended to use it for this pattern from the get go, and I’m really pleased by how nicely it’s turning out!

I’ve never worked with 100% silk before, though, so this brings up a question: what’s the best way to block silk? I’ve wet-blocked wool/silk blends just fine, but I’m kind of scared to do that with an all-silk yarn for some reason. I’ll have to refine my search terms and poke around online for more info…

September 2008 goals

I finally found my missing tripod part! Of course, now it’s September, which means I let another month go by without posting.

But! On the plus side, now I have another post drafted and set to go out sometime next week. And, it’ll be something you haven’t seen before!

In the meantime, last month’s goals:

  1. Finish the not-entirely-secret WIP – Done! Will this be unveiled next week?
  2. Finish Cleopatra wrap – Not done. Or will this be the one I post about?
  3. Work on at least one pair of socks – Done. Yay Sharks!
  4. Work on Tubey v2 – Done
  5. Work on Mountain Peaks Shawl – Not done

And now, this month’s!

  1. Finish Sharks socks
  2. Work on at least one lace project
  3. Work on Tubey v2

Not very exciting, I know, but they’re something, right?
